I'm using one to effectively give my battle wizard the 'extra attack' feature. Lastly I don't see why it wouldn't get your sneak attack, it swings with your strength/dexterity even though you aren't holding it, so if it has advantage I don't see why it wouldn't be able to use your ability to sneak attack as well. So, if the dancing sword is already in your hand at the start of your turn, you could totally toss it up with your bonus action, then draw into, say, a greataxe attack with your action, fight that way for 3 rounds, then when the dancing sword returns to you, either let it fall to the ground as described here, or have a hand free to catch it. I'd say no on sundering, it's not being held, so it can't be dropped, and it's not anything that requires concentration from you, so it couldn't be dropped in that way either.įor hand usage: Given that the multi weapon fighting feat talks about "drawing 2 weapons when you can normally only draw 1," I tend to rule that drawing 1 weapon as part of an action, such as an attack, is fine (this is also mentioned in the rules), but drawing more than 1 weapon on your turn then takes your action. If you toss the sword in the air then for 3 rounds can you : fight while using a two handed weapon (melee or ranged)? Or use a shield?Ĭan a dancing finesse weapon use sneak attack benefits? Is it possible for an enemy to sunder a dancing sword? It also ceases to hover if you grasp it or move more than 30 feet away from it. If the sword has no unobstructed path to you, it moves as close to you as it can and then falls to the ground. If you have no hand free, it falls to the ground at your feet. As part of the same bonus action, you can cause the sword to attack one creature within 5 feet of it.Īfter the hovering sword attacks for the fourth time, it flies up to 30 feet and tries to return to your hand. While the sword hovers, you can use a bonus action to cause it to fly up to 30 feet to another spot within 30 feet of you. The sword uses your attack roll and ability score modifier to damage rolls. When you do so, the sword begins to hover, flies up to 30 feet, and attacks one creature of your choice within 5 feet of it. You can use a bonus action to toss this magic sword into the air and speak the command word.
